What freight rate-sheet conversion actually involves
Carrier rate cards rarely arrive in one predictable structure. Headers may begin halfway down a worksheet, equipment names change between carriers, dates appear as free text, and surcharges live on separate tabs or PDF pages.
A useful conversion preserves the meaning of each rate while reshaping the data. RateReady extracts the source rows, normalizes agreed fields, checks source coverage, and delivers a clean file plus a review record.
Supported inputs and honest boundaries
Controlled pilots can include Excel workbooks, PDFs with selectable text, CSV, TSV, JSON, XML, text, and Word files. Scans, handwriting, encryption, corruption, or unusually complex layouts are inspected before acceptance and may require a custom scope or be declined.
- Multiple supported source files in one agreed batch
- One customer-specified target template
- Field-level uncertainty and source evidence
- Customer approval before operational use
The output is shaped for use—not merely extracted
Raw extraction is not the finish line. The agreed output may require location codes, equipment aliases, currencies, charge types, effective dates, or a specific column order. RateReady records uncertainty instead of silently filling gaps.
Customers remain responsible for reviewing the delivered file before using it for quoting, booking, or system import.
